Bows Are A Girl's Best Friend

Jacket (Marc Jacobs - past season) | Sweater (H&M - haven't seen it online but have seen it in multiple stores!) | Belt (Forever 21) | Skirt (TJ Maxx - almost identical here) | Boots (Franco Sarto) | Earrings (Kate Spade - almost identical here)
Photos by the sister, edits by E ♥

Hello again! Today I'm sharing with you all one of my favorite outfits for this fall/winter. I absolutely adore bows, so when I saw this sweater at H&M I think I died a little inside. I've come to discover that some things from H&M are actually much better quality than Forever 21 - this sweater included. I would consider this a staple piece for my fall/winter wardrobe. I actually put together another outfit with this same sweater that's more casual, and I will be sharing it with you all in the near future! So if the adorableness of this sweater hasn't convinced you already, it's actually surprisingly warm, not scratchy at all, and it almost feels like there's two layers of fabric rather than one.

I paired it with a mustard yellow skirt in a decently heavy fabric which is very fall appropriate. I love the cut and length of this skirt because it's very preppy conservative and extremely J. Crew-esque. (And surprise surprise, J. Crew has a skirt nearly identical to this one, just not in this particular color! See above for link.)

The top and skirt looked a little lonely without a belt, so I finally settled on a thin black bow belt with minimal gold hardware. Because the bow isn't ostentatiously large it works with the outfit. If you don't have a belt like this, I would stick with a plain thin black belt. And of course, opaque black tights are a staple for a fall/winter wardrobe! Pair it with a black pump or ankle booty of your choice and you're good to go :)

Last, I chose a jacket that wasn't black because I didn't want to add anymore darkness to the outfit. I love love love this coat for its unique buttons and almost suit-like tailoring. If you don't have a coat in a similar color, I also think a cream colored peacoat with gold detailing would be beautiful against these colors.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you all soon!!

Happy Black Friday Hauling!! I hit the mall at 11:00 with my friend and waited in a massive line to get into Urban Outfitters. The only thought running through my head was "MY SHOES!!" because I didn't want them to get scuffed or scratched...haha. Needless to say, it was quite a successful day of shopping. If you braved the crowds, let me know what great finds you picked up!!

Friday Feature: Red

Top (Forever 21) | Blazer (Target - Last Season) | Jeans (Rock and Republic) | Shoes (Enzo Angiolini)
Photos and Edits are E ♥ originals

Hello again! It's been quit some time since I last posted and I sincerely apologize for disappearing once again. School and life have been hectic ever since the hurricane and I'm slowly getting back into the normal pace of things. But finally I had time to take a little break and it's been way too long since I've posted a Friday Feature :)

Today, as you can see, a very familiar top is making a reappearance! It was last seen in October, worn by me in a Black Bow Affair! My sister loved the top so she decided to borrow it and add her own style to it. I would classify this look as a dressy dressed down if you compare it to the outfit I put together with this top - but it could go even more casual than this if you wanted!

I love the combination she chose. It's a classic of black and white with an accent of red. She cropped up her jeans, which is a great look for when you throw on a pair of pumps or wedges with tapered pants because it elongates your legs instead of having the extra material in the pants bunch up. It's also a great way to conceal pants that might be just a tad short :)

Because it is a little bit chilly now (or very chilly at times), she chose a gray blazer with an inverted black and white polka dot lining on the sleeves. This little touch of pattern is a good tie-in with the rest of the outfit, and choosing gray instead of a black blazer makes the look a little less severe.

I hope you all enjoyed this outfit, and I will be back with more posts!! I have just one more exam to get through and then I'm home free for Thanksgiving break :) As always, I hope you all are doing well and I'll see you next time!

Cozy Knits

Sweater (Joe Fresh - past season) | Top (Love Culture - past season) | Jeggings (Joe Fresh) | Booties (Ugg Australia)

Hi again! Sorry about never posting a Sunday Love! With school cancellations and whatnot from the hurricane, getting back into the daily grind of school and all the activities that come with it has been tiring and stressful, and I feel like all my exams and projects are just piling up. I wanted to get this post out for all of you before I'm bombarded with more stress and work, and I'm also feeling a bit under the weather so I wanted to blog before it all hit me harder.

So this look is all about transitioning those summery-spring tops into your fall wardrobe. I love this top I bought last spring from Love Culture because I'm a big floral girl - I love my floral prints :) It's helpful that this shirt is navy because it's much easier to tie into a fall wardrobe. Instead of pulling from the pastel/spring tones in the floral, I pulled from the mauve/dusty-rose color and went with burgundy jeggings, which are from a similar color family. The burgundy is very fall, and added with the navy you get a nice dark fall combo without being too drab. Because the top is very sheer, I chose a nice and chunky knit cardigan in an oatmeal color. When in doubt, always go with a neutral/nude - you can hardly ever go wrong! I also purposely bought this sweater in a size (or two??) up so I could wear it as an oversized layering piece. Finally, for shoes I went with my favorite booties this season :) You either want to go with a upper mid-calf to knee-high boot or a very short ankle boot (in a taupe/chestnut/cognac/brown - no black! It'll be too dark with this look.) because anything in between that will make your legs look stubby since the cardigan is very long. The only exception would be if you're super tall and skinny and were blessed with killer legs. Then by all means, rock the mid-length boots because the rest of us commoners cannot :)

Hope you enjoyed this look and I'll see you all next time!

Cause You Love Me Just The Way That You Should

Jacket (Dallin Chase) | Top (H&M) | Pants (Mossimo) | Flats (Kathy von Zeeland - past season) | Necklace (Francesca's - check your local boutiques because it's pictures on the main page but not in the actual online store) | Belt (J. Crew)
Photos by my sister, edits by E ♥

Before I jump into things, I just have to share the song that the lyrics of my post's title came from :) I've been obsessed with this song for the past three weeks or so and it's constantly stuck in my head so I figured I would spread it along to you guys. The song is "Bad" by The Cab - click here to listen! And if you love it as much as I do, you're very welcome :)

Anyways, back to my outfit. So first I want to apologize for some fuzziness in the picture quality. It's getting darker and darker earlier, and I usually only take pictures on the weekends so when I do get the chance to it's already late afternoon which means really bad lighting. Also, to clarify, my jeans are a brick/clay red color - with the varying lighting and all, the color gets a bit skewed.

I essentially centered this outfit around the necklace I got from Francesca's. It was a bit of a splurge for me because for the quality and brand, I thought 33 was a bit of a steep price, but I loved it too much to pass by. I think this necklace is a lot easier to dress up and a little tougher to dress down, but I really wanted more of an everyday look. I paired it with a simple black top that's not too tight fitting because with a heavy drop necklace like this one, you never want to pair it with a tight tee. I chose the brick red jeans to give it a very fall feel, and I kept it looking and feeling luxe (with a hint of edge) by throwing on a leather jacket. For shoes, I wanted to soften it up a bit, so I chose nude flats with gold and gray hardware detailing that matched with the colors of my accessories (belt and necklace).

And a final tip to those of you fellow morning strugglers who can never decide what to wear even though there is an overabundance of clothing in your closets: choose one piece you really want to wear and center your entire outfit around it, just like I did with this outfit! I've found that it makes life a whole lot easier when getting ready in the morning because it limits your options of what you can and cannot wear :)

As always, hope everyone is safe and recovering from the hurricane, and I'll see you all tomorrow with my Sunday Love!

XOXO,

New Year's Eve (Nail Tutorial)

Orly | Sally Hansen | Sephora by OPI | Ulta | Seche Vite | Nail Dotting Tool
All Photos and Edits are E ♥ Originals

After a week-long hiatus because of Hurricane Sandy, I'm finally back! Out of sheer boredom from the past week of doing absolutely nothing because I'm trapped in my house and school has been cancelled, I decided to try something with my nails that I've been thinking about for the past two weeks. This look was inspired by many things, including: this shirt, the MAC Glamour Daze Collection, this sweater. To  get this look keep on reading:

Step 1: Paint on any base coat of your choice - I used "Top 2 Bottom" by Orly
Step 2: Paint on one opaque layer of black polish - I used "Liquid Vinyl" from a French Manicure set by Orly
Step 3: Choose which nail you want each design to go on - I mixed things up between my left hand and right hand
Step 4: Starting with the thumb - use a gold polish of your choice (I used "High Roller" by Ulta) and carefully paint on a French Manicure tip.
Step 5: For the index finger - paint on two coats of white polish, leaving a U-Shape sliver of black peeking through (I used "Whirlwind White" by Sally Handsen).
Step 6: For the index finger - After the white dries, use a dotting tool (or a toothpick if you don't have a dotting tool) and create your polka dots! To make life easier, I would suggest dripping some polish on a piece of paper instead of using polish from the brush.
Step 7: For the middle finger - use your dotting tool to mark the v-shape point and the tip of your heart. Then outline the heart with your dotting tool and fill it in carefully with the brush.
Step 8: For the ring finger - Use Sephora by OPI's "Only Gold For Me" Top Coat and glitter it up until you're happy!
Step 9: For the pinky - using your gold polish again, dot the middle and corner of your bow, and fill it in still using your dotting tool. With a dot of white polish, accent the middle of the bow and finish by adding some more white polka dots around it. Tip: I also like to put the bow at a slight angle to make it just a little cuter!
Step 10: Once everything dries, paint on a coat of your favorite top coat - I used Seche Vite, my all time favorite :)

And if you're interested, on my other hand I swapped the design between my middle and index finger, did a french tip on my pinky, the bow design on my ring finger, and glittered up my thumb.

Hope you like this look cause I know I can't stop staring at my nails :) And for everyone on the eastern sea board, I hope you're all safe and sound!! Love you all!

XOXO,
E ♥
