It is currently graduation season for those of us in college or with friends in college, and oddly I always find myself gravitating towards something maxi when I attend graduation - refer to this post for what I wore to my cousin's graduation last year (oops, caught redhanded wearing the same denim jacket)! I found this skirt about a week ago at Lord & Taylor and I fell in love with the floral print. I also really appreciate the high slit which makes it a lot more airy since polyester can be a bit suffocating no matter how thin it is. My tip for wearing anything patterned is to find a color from inside the pattern and match correspondingly. I usually like to choose a color that's a lesser part of the pattern for more of a contrast. With maxis, the easiest thing to throw on if it's a bit chilly is a denim jacket, and the light denim of this one match perfectly with my skirt! Last, I chose one of my favorite vintage finds as my bag, which also doubled as my camera bag for the day because it stores my DSLR perfectly when I keep the lens and body separate :) Let me know in the comments below what your go-to outfit is for an event like graduation, and a special congratulations to all the graduates out there who follow my blog!! Catch you in my next one!

  1. Whoa, I have a vintage Dooney and Bourke bag that I bought a few years ago. Huh, what do you know? Mine is the cream version! I love the side slit on your skirt!

  2. Love the outfit Erica, very very cute. Like you, I like to bring out colors by wearing a color already in the pattern. I have a graduation to attend the upcoming week, and I'm stuck on what to wear, especially not with East Coast weather fluctuating like this. Do you have any suggestions?

  3. Wow, what a coincidence! Where did you buy yours from? I love the vintage Dooney and Bourke bags :) They're great quality and hold up so well over time.

  4. Thanks Christine! The weather has been so bipolar here lately...it was so hot and humid the past two days and today it dropped down to the high 40s low 50s with on and off rain. Hopefully the weather is okay next week! If it's warm enough, I think it'd be super cute if you wore one of those structured but kind of flared out skirts with a top that you might not get a chance to wear to work and play around with some patterns or bright colors. If it doesn't end up on your blog, let me know what you decide on! :)
