The Art of Being a Classy Chap

Hi everyone! Today's post is a little different, and really meant for all the guys who frequent my page, and I know there are quite a few of you. I've had some people ask me to do more posts for men's fashion, but it's pretty difficult for me to find a guy willing to take photos for my page while also owning a wardrobe that I appreciate.

So instead, I found you all a blog that pretty much gives you a handbook for your manly lives, or as I like to call it, a manbook. (And no, I am not being paid to rave about this blog...!) You guys like things to be simple and straightforward with your no-frills kind of attitude, and ClassyChap is just that. You can find great deals on clothing items that are pre-approved by the blogger himself (for example, the latest post featured a wool-blend peacoat by Guess for only $37, MSRP was $250), and other deals and suggestions for gadgets, healthy living, fine living, and the occasional Sunday Funday giveaway!

Are you a ClassyChap? To get more tips and deals, visit ClassyChap.com and learn to rock that monocle ;)

XOXO,
E ♥

Circle Skirts are Forever

Top (Charter Club) | Skirt (J. Crew - kids) | Jacket (Marc Jacobs) | Necklace (Forever 21) | Watch (MK) | Bracelet (Pandora) | Rings (Tiffany & Co., Target, Ariella Collection) | Belt (J. Crew)

Happy Monday! Recently, I've developed a new affinity for circle skirts and they are now one of my new loves. I want one in every color and in all patterns and fabrics because they are just so versatile and so darn cute! You can dress them up or dress them down, and they can virtually be manipulated to fit your own personal style. I've seen girls who style it very laid-back for everyday wear and a lot of girls who love to kick it up a notch and give it their own edge with duo-patterned tights, a graphic tee, and a nice leather or denim jacket. But for me, I either stick with the former or a look similar to the one I'm rocking today :)

As if this outfit wasn't barftastically preppy enough, I couldn't resist but to throw on a pair of bow tights and really call this outfit mine because you know me and bows - I can never get enough! I love these little booties because they remind me of blossoming flowers for some reason. I think its due in part to the way they cinch and then flare open at the top. Unfortunately, I don't know what brand these shoes are. The only hints I found on the soles were "Made in Italy" and Vero Cuoio, or Real Leather.

I hope you all enjoyed this look and the repetition of clenched fists in all the photographs. It was extremely cold outside and even my little trick of double layering in Uniqlo Heat-Tech and cashmere sweaters wasn't doing its duty this time around. Is it just me, or is it an extremely Asian thing to do in double layering long sleeves? Haha, have a great week!!

SRFY: Additional 40% off Madewell Sale!

All images taken from Madewell.com

Hello hello! Today I have another SRFY deal for all of you (check out my first one here - I believe it's still going on!). I haven't been shopping all too much myself lately because I'm trying (really hard) to keep my New Year resolution of doing less impulse shopping. But a little browsing never hurt anyone, and I tell myself it is my moral obligation to shop for all my readers as promised! :)

So today I bring you another great deal from another one of my favorite stores of all time - Madewell! I've been an avid fan of Madewell ever since my high school days, and I love them simply because of their quality and style. Much of their lines consist of pieces that just give you an easy, effortless style in versatile but chic pieces that almost always have a small element of uniqueness that makes it different from other brands. Aka, when you rock Madewell, you're the girl in the room with the effortlessly cool look all the other girls are eyeing covetously, and let's be real - who doesn't want to be that girl??

As always, I've hand selected pieces to share with you guys that I personally love and/or own, but there's tons more on their actual site so shop away and let me live vicariously through you!! Enter code LOVE40 at checkout to receive the discount. Love you chicas, and I'll catch you all next time ;)
Disclaimer: These are all my own personal opinions! I am not being sponsored to post this.

XOXO,
E ♥

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway! It closes in exactly one week! Just for clarification - you must complete all the steps (excluding step 3, that's for an extra entry after completing 1, 2, and 4) in order to be entered!

Color Between the Shadows

Top (Outer): J. Crew | Top (Inner): TJ Maxx | Bottoms: Abercrombie and Fitch | Shoes: Tory Burch | Necklace: Forever 21 | Watch: MK | Rings: Tiffany & Co., Target, Ariella Collection | Earrings: Kate Spade

Happy Wednesday! I love Wednesdays because for the past semester and this semester, it's my day off from school so I have plenty of time to be productive :)

Today I bring you an outfit that's fun and preppy, with some layers and color. The weather was beautiful when I took these pictures (not so much anymore...), so this outfit was passable even though it is the middle of January. As you all may know, I've previously expressed my deep love for J. Crew and my secret desire to purchase the entire store and bask in its tailored designs and adorable prints, and this outfit was actually inspired by one of the mannequins I saw dressed in the store. It was wearing a turquoise-green pair of chords and a denim shirt, with a boxy tweed jacket layered over it and a statement necklace. I pulled from some of those similar ideas and came out with this!

If it's too cold, a cute pair of cognac riding boots would work perfectly with this outfit. But I opted to go with my Torys, as Ms. Burch can do no wrong. Hope you all liked this look, and thanks for reading!!

XOXO,
E ♥

P.S. Who's checked out the spring collection for Tory Burch? Literally sitting here ogling the shoes and trying not to drool. Want!!

SRFY: Additional 40% J. Crew Sale Items!

All images taken from J.Crew (items may vary from store to store)

I decided to add a new section to my blog called SRFY (pronounced "surfy" in my head). It stands for "Shopping Refined for You" and it was inspired by a new blog I follow called Classy Chap, which is a men's lifestyle and fashion blog. So for all you boys that follow my posts, check it out!

You might be wondering, what is SRFY? For those of you who know me personally or can just gather from my past posts, I really love to shop and I probably shop way too much for my own good. Like most college students out there, I'm not made of money so when I shop I love scoring good deals, and it's almost necessary for me since I shop so much, because otherwise I'd be dead broke right now. With my new SRFY posts, I'll bring you all the good deals I come across from surfing the web or perusing the stores and we can be bargain hunting buddies together :)

So for today's SRFY deal, we have the best time of year in the world of J. Crew - additional 40% off their sale items! If you shop online, the deal is only for 30% off unfortunately. Keep in mind that all their sale items are final sale when there is an additional discount, so it's best if you can get into the stores and try things on before purchasing! I've already gone to quite a few J. Crew's since the sale has started and picked up some great buys, so hit up the J. Crew near you and let me know what good SRFY deals you find!

XOXO,
E ♥

P.S. If you haven't already, follow me on Facebook! Thanks :)

Watercolors and Fur

Jacket (Dallin Chase) | Top (Urban Outfitters) | Pants (J. Crew Pixie Pants) | Shoes (Enzo Angiolini) | Earrings (Kate Spade) | Rings (Tiffany & Co., Ariella Collection, Target)

Happy Monday! Today we have a fun outfit with a few of my favorite things :) It's an easy outfit to throw on for a nice dinner out with your girls or date night, and still feel comfortable while looking good!

If you remember, I bought this shirt back in November in my Black Friday haul. I'm big on florals and color so I was immediately drawn to this shirt. Unfortunately it was a bit cold so I didn't take off my coat, but the shirt has some nice black color blocked sleeves. I kept everything else pretty monochromatic, going with all black and a few pops of gold. Instead of a black peacoat, I chose a leather jacket. Depending on the style of your leather coat, you can either toughen up the look or make it look even more luxurious. I went with the latter because every girl needs to have a little bit of fur in her life :) For those of you anti-fur, please don't go PETA on me!! Your faux fur trims are just fine with me - to each their own :)

Hope you enjoyed this look!! And if you haven't already, please go and "Like" my Facebook page for all the latest updates! Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next time :)

XOXO,
E ♥

Simplicity

Blazer (Madewell - Past season) | Top (Vintage Silk) | Pants (J. Crew Pixie Pants - a top favorite in my closet!!) | Shoes (Alice + Olivia) | Necklace (Forever 21 - old) | Watch (MK) | Rings (Tiffany&Co., Target, Ariella Collection) | Earrings (Kate Spade)

First winter style post of the new year!! :) Had a mini blogging prep day yesterday and gathered up some pictures of new outfits for you lovelies. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen a sneak peek of this look already. And you also will have seen the featured shoes in this look from when I first purchased them (Post-final exam splurge: any excuse is a good excuse when it comes to shopping!). They are my absolute new loves in my life right now and I simply cannot get enough of them. I could stare and drool all day long at their beauty. I almost want to take them out on a Starbucks date - we can share a latte and talk about our day <3

These shoes are the kind that you will build an outfit around solely to wear them. Because they are the centerpiece of my outfit, I kept the rest very simple. I chose a camel colored Madewell blazer and a cream colored silk top with some beautiful floral detailing that's hard to tell from the photos. For pants I chose my most favorite black pants in the whole world. I can't begin to tell you how much I love these pants and you probably don't want to listen to me rave and rave about them because you'll be $88 poorer by the time I'm done. So if I haven't convinced you already, buy them!

Thanks for reading!! I have some exciting new things coming up on my blog, so to be the first to know, you can add me on Google Friend Connect (Click "Join this site" underneath the About section) over on the sidebar and/or Like! my new Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/refinedcouture. Thanks for the love!!

XOXO,
E ♥

(A Very Belated) Happy New Year! - 2012 Lookbook

Though I'm six days past due, I just want to wish everyone a very very happy new year!! I apologize for disappearing for quite a bit - I was away and had no access to my blog or my laptop so I was unable to put any posts together for you guys :(

However, I wanted to take this time to thank all of you, my beautiful readers, who have constantly supported my blog since it's birth in early spring 2012 :) To those of you who have told me that my posts inspire you in what you wear, it really is an honor! I love blogging for all of you because fashion is truly something I love, and I believe that what you wear can really change how you feel. Never dress to impress others, never dress to be like others, just dress to please yourself and to be yourself. Like I say in my sidebar, fashion is personal - it is an art unconfined to the space of a canvas, and an art that defines you. So thank you, thank you to all of you!!  I cannot wait to see what 2013 holds for all of us, and I hope I can continue to inspire each one of you to just keep being the best fashionable you that you could be :) Lots of love!!

XOXO,
E ♥
