Black & Moto

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today's outfit is great for a day out and about! It's a little tough and a little feminine, which is my favorite mix for a cool girl chic vibe. I thought this jacket was very interesting when I first saw it in the Aéropostale store. Usually, moto jackets come in a faux leather material, which isn't something I'm typically a fan of with jackets since it feels very restrictive and unbreathable. I liked this one because it comes in an extremely washed out denim with some minimal distressing detail. I thought it would be a cute jacket to throw on for chilly nights or chilly spring days over skirts and dresses because it's a little bit more cropped. I always love a good denim jacket, and I don't have anything else like it in my closet!

Holiday Glam :: Little Black Dress & Plaid Car Coat

Hi everyone, and a very merry Christmas to all those who are celebrating today!
Anna from A Lily Love Affair // Jenny from Stuff I Love // Gabriela from Soul of a Fashionista // Yumi from Petite in Style

I couldn't think of a better festive, holiday outfit than an adorable a-line LBD paired with cheery red, particularly cheery red plaid, and fur! I'll let you in on one of my deepest, darkest secrets...I am a confessed clothing hoarder. When plaid made it's grand re-entry into the world of trendy pieces for this season, I immediately fell in love. And thanks to my, and my mother's, incessant need to hoard clothes to the point they can be declared vintage, lo and behold was this jacket sitting in our guest room closet (yes, we shamelessly use it for storage and no, guests should not open that closet door). The best part? This jacket was made to fit an eight year old. I am 20-some years old. But I think it fits beautifully. Laura Ashley, why have you disappeared from the fashion world? 20-some year old me wants your fantastic plaid and floral printed items in sizes made for humans my age (which I will continue to hoard for my posterity).

I love the idea of plaid and fur for a festive, luxe, glam pairing. I also love classic silhouettes like this a-line dress I picked up from Aéropostale. I was so pleasantly surprised with the quality of this dress! The material is quite a heavy weight and plus...it has pockets!! The minimal pleating on the front is beautiful, and it falls at the perfect length. I can't wait to use it as a basic piece for lots of other LBD pairings :) It also comes in a royal blue, which I didn't get a chance to try on but am now considering going back to the store for! They also have it in a very similar skirt version for those of you who prefer the versatility of a skirt over a dress. Add some gold jewelry and black tights if its cold, and you have yourself a very festive holiday look!

'Tis the Season :: Quilted Aviator Jacket & Printed Trousers

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a fantastic start to this very merry week :)

In the midst of all the festivities, I wanted to bring some holiday glam to Refined Couture and share some looks that might inspire you for your holiday outfits! I've been dying to wear so many pieces from today's look, so I thought, hey why not put them all together for the happiest outfit of all? After all, it's the happiest time of year! I bought this aviator-style quilted jacket from Burberry last month as an early "end-of-semester" gift to myself. It was an impulse splurge but it is one I will never regret. I've always wanted a Burberry jacket, and I considered getting the classic quilted jacket that is extremely popular. However, me being me, I wanted to get something different from everyone else. What caught my attention about this jacket was the extra leather piping details (which are hard to see in the pictures), the larger aviator collar (with a hidden hood!), and the double breasted cut with the dark, gunmetal buttons and buckle detail.

I know there are an endless number of ways to dress this jacket, but for the sake of holiday glam I went with brushed metallics to create a luxe feel. I love these trousers from H&M. They remind me of something you'd find from J.Crew's Collection line, but at a tenth of the price. I have to say, H&M's been coming out with some fabulous trousers lately and I've already bought three pairs in the last two months. For once, my bank account does not weep!! I'd call that a monetary win. Last, are these shoes. I am obsessed with the chunky gold low heel paired with an elegant, pointed suede flat. They add holiday glam to any outfit and a hint! You'll see them again for Wednesday's look :)

Euro Chic :: Cropped Turtleneck + Menswear Loafers

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a great week so far!
Anna from A Lily Love Affair // Jenny from Stuff I Love // Gabriela from Soul of a Fashionista // Yumi from Petite in Style

I'm currently in my last week of school for this semester...chugging through some finals before I can have my month-long winter break! I'm going to miss the luxury of so much down time after this school year ends and the real world begins. During exam time, you'll always find me with my glasses on because 1) they make me feel more studious, and 2) I like to go sans-makeup so I substitute my eyeliner for my eyeglasses. I don't wear contacts on a regular basis because my vision isn't nearly that bad, but I do have slight nearsightedness so I need my glasses for school, driving, and the like. Firmoo is an online glasses store, and they were kind enough to send these glasses to me for review. I've worn them out and about for a few days to test them out, and they're very lightweight so they don't hurt the back of my ears. They also don't slide down my face or dig into my nose bridge which are all the things I check for in a quality pair of glasses. So far, so good, and I'm loving the tortoise frame! To get your [free] pair of glasses, follow this link! If you're no longer a first time customer, you can use this code:  refinedcoutureblogs4 for $30 off your purchase.

I'm really loving the turtleneck trend that's coming back around, and I picked up this cropped number from Zara on impulse one day. I paired it with an extremely old pair of high-waisted jeans with a slight acid wash that my mom handed down to me from her archive of vintage clothing. Together, it felt very European menswear inspired, so I brought out these Gucci loafers to complete the look!

Snow Day :: Faux Fur Vest & Cowl Neck Sweaters

Hi everyone, and a very merry Monday to all!

We had our very first snow day of the year this past week and I couldn't help but feel like a giddy little girl again, singing holidays songs and having a little too much fun playing in the snow (refer to last picture). Surprisingly, it wasn't all that cold out after the storm had passed, and I felt perfectly warm bundled up in my faux fur vest, cowl neck sweater, and wool beret! I may also have cheated and slipped on an extra layer underneath my sweater - Uniqlo Heattech you are a lifesaver in the winter time.

Who else feels like a child again when the snow starts to fall?? This girl sure does :)

Urban Holiday :: Peplum Bow Sweater & Statement Necklaces

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a great week so far!!

Anna from A Lily Love Affair // Gabriela from Soul of a Fashionista // Yumi from Petite in Style

This week's collaboration post is centered around statement necklaces. I for one love statement necklaces and have a rather large collection. I started out buying mostly Forever 21 pieces a few years ago, but more recently I've begun investing in better quality pieces mostly from J.Crew - home of the most beautiful statement necklaces that I ever did see [insert heart-eyed emoji]. Statement necklaces are the perfect accessory to dress up any outfit and add a bit of glam :)
If you remember, I mentioned in this post that I had a few other pieces from the boutique sample sale I wanted to share with you girls. This sweater is one of them. Like my Theory draped cardigan, this sweater was love at first swoon. I love the heavy weight wool that gives the sweater structure, and the oversized bow that ties to cinch in the waist to create a feminine and flirty peplum effect.
