Thigh High

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday :)

Today's look is a little different from my usual get up. The theme for this week's "On Wednesday's We Wear" is dresses, but I wanted to gravitate away from a darker more "winter-y" dress and into something a bit brighter and more casual. I feel like all my posts as of late have been dark toned, with many of them incorporating some sort of navy or black, and many of them have also been quite dressy. Yes, I'll admit I love to get dressed up but on the flip side there's also days where I just want to be comfy and wear outfits like these that won't be (as) socially acceptable when I'm 30. Hey, if you're thirty and still want to dress like this, girl you do you and just run young, wild(in), and free.

I love a lace dress paired with an oversized, "I could sleep in this" cardigan. Obviously, it's not exactly 20 degrees fahrenheit friendly, but that's what the thigh high socks and hidden spandex is for. If you haven't tried it before, wearing a pair of spandex shorts underneath a dress on a cold day actually adds a lot more warmth than you'd think the sparse piece of fabric offers. Let's just say, it keeps it not so breezy down there as it would be without the sliders. (Are they sliders? Spandex? Back in the day when I played sports in high school we referred to them as both sliders and spandex, frequently also referred to as compression shorts).

  4. Love this casual look! I'm a big fan of knee high socks and love yours with the tan boots. I love how oversized the sweater is and the pop of color from the scarf is so pretty. I never thought of wearing spandex shorts under dresses for colder days, but that is genius!! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I'd love to follow each other. Just started following on GFC & BL. Excited to stay connected : )
