Deconstructed Construct

Deconstructed construct is what I like to call the fine line of balance between dressed up and dressed down -- my favorite kind of look for versatility. The easiest base pieces for a deconstructed construct look? Rip and repair boyfriend jeans + a tailored blazer. What you wear underneath the blazer is the component that really changes the outfit. I could literally wear this same outfit five different ways simply by changing the top I'm wearing inside. For work, I chose a casual black and white striped tank that I wore here, and swapped my heels for my Nike Roshe Run's for comfort and a more urban-chic look.

I'm also one to own a ton of outerwear. When I obsess, I really obsess. In my world, owning a black blazer is like owning a little black dress: you can never have one too many because no black blazer is created equal. For those of you who don't know, my mother is actually quite the stylish lady and she's really the one who sparked my love for clothes, fashion, and shopping. It's our {thing}. This blazer was actually hers, but she bought it and never wore it and now it's mine. I am absolutely in love with the leather paneling of the sleeves as well as the faux lapel look that the leather lining creates. I think it's an extremely streamlined blazer and works great as a third-piece layering option for fall and spring. You'd be surprised at the extra warmth the bits of leather add!
