Thigh High

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday :)

Anna from A Lily Love Affair // Jenny from Stuff I Love // Gaby from Soul of a Fashionista // Yumi from Petite in Style

Today's look is a little different from my usual get up. The theme for this week's "On Wednesday's We Wear" is dresses, but I wanted to gravitate away from a darker more "winter-y" dress and into something a bit brighter and more casual. I feel like all my posts as of late have been dark toned, with many of them incorporating some sort of navy or black, and many of them have also been quite dressy. Yes, I'll admit I love to get dressed up but on the flip side there's also days where I just want to be comfy and wear outfits like these that won't be (as) socially acceptable when I'm 30. Hey, if you're thirty and still want to dress like this, girl you do you and just run young, wild(in), and free.

I love a lace dress paired with an oversized, "I could sleep in this" cardigan. Obviously, it's not exactly 20 degrees fahrenheit friendly, but that's what the thigh high socks and hidden spandex is for. If you haven't tried it before, wearing a pair of spandex shorts underneath a dress on a cold day actually adds a lot more warmth than you'd think the sparse piece of fabric offers. Let's just say, it keeps it not so breezy down there as it would be without the sliders. (Are they sliders? Spandex? Back in the day when I played sports in high school we referred to them as both sliders and spandex, frequently also referred to as compression shorts).

Pins and Needles :: Tapered Tartan Trousers & Jewel Embellishments

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well!

For today's look, I've paired together pieces that have all been featured in different outfits in the past. I always tell myself to choose wisely when shopping and not to buy something solely because I'm getting a great deal and the item is cute. However, for a frequent shopper like myself, it becomes quite difficult to walk away from a good sale, and I've never actually accomplished said goal. This year, I really want to work towards refining my closet and curating pieces that I know I truly love. I think it's safe to say that all the pieces I paired for this look are ones that are well-loved in my closet, and I believe this is actually the third time this J.Crew embellished oxford top has made its way onto the blog!

Lately, I've really been into loafers paired with a tapered, slightly cropped pant and a boxier cardigan or overcoat. Though I recently wore this same cardigan paired with these loafers in another post, I couldn't help but wear them again. They are both recent purchases that I have yet to get enough of!

Twilight Zone :: Sequins & Leather

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday :)

Anna from A Lily Love Affair // Jenny from Stuff I Love // Gabriela from Soul of a Fashionista // Yumi from Petite in Style

So sorry I missed a post on Monday! My birthday just passed this weekend, so I had quite a busy Saturday and Sunday celebrating with family and friends. I do, however, still want to share with you what I wore for my birthday weekend! I wore this outfit out to a fancy brunch with a few of my closer friends on Sunday and yes, my brunch wishes came true - I got to sip on a mimosa while wearing a sparkly outfit. I've been saving this jacket for a special occasion, and what better day to wear it out than a birthday? I fell in love with the swirly sequined design, and to be quite honest it reminds me of the sky from Van Gogh's Starry Night painting. I also really love the subtle leather details that are on the trim of the jacket.

Since the jacket is more on the cropped side, I paired it with a drop waist dress whose skirt is leather. Though the jacket is already sequined, an all black pairing felt a little too drab, so the very minimal crystals that are sewed onto the body of the dress were the perfect touch to add a little kick. Plus, all the different textures add more interest. It's too cold now to go bare-legged, so a little trick for the cold weather days when you don't want to go with a thicker opaque black stocking is to layer a nude stocking underneath your sheer black stocking for extra warmth without losing the sheer black effect!

Snapshots from Taiwan :: Warm Tones Meet Cool Accents

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well :)

After a busy couple weeks in December with finals, the holidays, and other celebrations followed by a two week vacation to Taiwan, I'm finally back home and ready to get back in my normal routines in this last week of winter break before school starts again. It's been a decade since I've been back to Taiwan, and all my previous memories were a bit foggy and scattered. It was exciting to go back and visit after all these years - this time to make some memories I will definitely remember and hold dear to my heart. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen some photos from my trip. We went up into the mountains for some freshly grown and roasted coffee, down south for a two-day getaway on the beautiful coast, visited the capital city of Taipei, and spent lots and lots of time eating in the city of Taichung. Taiwan, or as I like to call it, Formosa, is a beautiful country and if you get the chance I highly recommend you make a trip to the island for some good eats, shopping, and sightseeing!

I wore this outfit to a lunch at an adorable villa-like restaurant area in the close-by mountains of Taichung. Since Taichung is located in central Taiwan, the weather was quite beautiful and it felt like perfect spring weather on most days. Thus, I was able to get away with wearing a skirt, sans stockings, with just a jacket for the chillier evenings. Navy and camel is always an easy pairing, but I decided to glam up the look with a little silver in my jewelry, accessories, and shoes. Like I mentioned in my last post, in honor of my birthday week, I wanted all the looks from this week to have a little sparkle to make them a bit dressier and more feminine and glam. I'll be sharing with you all next week the looks that I wore for my actual birthday weekend! Hope you tune in for those :)

Sparkle On :: Shag Sweater & Brushed Gold Pleats

Hi everyone!! Happy Monday :) Hope you all had a great weekend!

Today's look is one I'm super excited about because I've established an undying love for this skirt. It's mid-length, a sparkly brushed gold, and beautifully, structurally pleated. Please tell me what's not to love? It's officially my birthday week, so I wanted to kick off the festivities with some feminine outfits that makes any girl feel like a fabulous princess on her birthday. It's probably all in my head, but hey a girl can dream and a girl will sparkle while sipping on mimosas at brunch with her girl friends.

I love the juxtaposition of the lush, fur-like sweater against the luxe gold skirt. I searched high and low before finding this sweater, and I was so surprised how difficult it was to find a semi-cropped black shag sweater. However, after trying on many a different black tops, the shagginess of this sweater added the perfect richness I desired as a pairing with this skirt. It was what I had envisioned all along so you can only understand my excitement when I finally stumbled upon it at PacSun of all places!

Winter Weather :: Oversized Blanket Scarf & Jeweled Loafers

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday!

After purchasing my first blanket scarf from Zara, I've been on the hunt for more of these oversized bundles of joy. This scarf, which actually doubles as a stole, caught my eye at the mall in the Uniqlo window displays. The mannequins were actually wearing them poncho-style but I figured a big poncho would equate to a very, very large scarf which was perfect for me! I love that the color of this one is very different from my Zara scarf, which has a neutral camel-colored base. However, I've found that this one is actually very easy to match and I've been reaching for it a lot more than my Zara scarf! Which makes me kind of sad since I really do love that scarf as well.

Oversized scarves plus oversized cardigans are my first go-to during the winter. It's so easy to throw on a chunky cardigan and wrap myself in a scarf because it feels like I'm wearing socially acceptable pajamas with a cuddly blanket in public. What's not to love about that? Let's be real. It's everyone's wish to just be warm and snuggly all day during the cold winter months.
