"People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. But be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action."

Rewind. Reset. Refresh.

Take a step back and see whatever it is you're looking at with a new set of eyes. This can apply to the smallest, most mundane aspects of your life all the way to the big, life-altering decisions you might make. I always like to see what I can make out of what I already have before starting over brand new. Take these pair of old jeans for example -- I've had these jeans since high school and I'll be honest...they sat in my closet for many years unworn. I thought to toss them many, many times because hey, it was a waste of space in my wardrobe and it could be easily replaced with a new pair of denim. But recently, I've gotten into chopping my old jeans with a pair of garment scissors because why not? I don't have much to lose if my cutting job goes awry, but I have a lot to gain if these old pair of blue jeans can rejoin the daily rotation simply through a quick refresh. So before you go out and drop $100 on a new pair of cropped flares or raw-edge jeans, go have a look in your pile of reject denim and see if you can make something old new again.

Grey Days

"How is it they live for eons in such harmony -- the billions of stars..."

It's the perfect way in which things work together, move in sync, live synonymously, and compliment each other. Spring has officially sprung and the temperatures have been quite the roller coaster ride. It's difficult waking up one morning to 70 degree weather and waking up another to the cool 40s. My closet has yet to catch up to the new season and each day is a struggle of "I have nothing to wear" because everything feels a little dated and very last year. So, when all else fails, I go back to the basics -- and instead of black on black I've really been digging grey on grey, especially on those grey kinda days. I fell in love with this grey longline coat from Club Monaco earlier this season, and its contrast suede collar in the two tone greys really inspired me to pull together a full grey on grey look. If the weather wants to stay this way, I wouldn't even be mad because this coat could use a little more lovin' before going into hibernation until next winter.

Vintage Midi

"All we have is all we need; all we need is the awareness of how blessed we really are."

When will we ever have enough? I was asked at my church's bible study group to reflect on something I'd learned in the past week, and it took me some time to really think about the lessons we get from our everyday lives. Naturally, as humans, we always seek more, better, greater, higher. Our happiness becomes something that is measurable by the things we can count in our lives -- money, possessions, friends, etc. But if we are always counting, it will never be enough. Happiness becomes an infinite number that is unachievable. Instead, we need to know how blessed we are with exactly what we have. If there's anything we should be counting, it should be our blessings, and the blessings we have at any given point in our lives will always be more than enough.

Retro Basics

"We speak of stolen breaths because it just may be the most beautiful magic we have."

Moments caught between the breaths of the air.

Not just things the stole our breath, but the secret moments of stolen breaths between breaths, the intimate sharing of a moment, caught in the air and blown away by the wind. The seconds of our lives that we hold onto for the rest of forever. The smell of the rain, the touch of the breeze, the dew of the sea -- that is magic. The most beautiful magic we have.

Everyday Denim // Just Be

"If you want to be happy, be."

Just be.

The state of our happiness should not be reliant on anyone or anything else but ourselves. So often we find ourselves seeking happiness or comfort through other people or other things, but if we can't find happiness in just ourselves, how will we ever truly be happy? It's a level of self-acceptance and self-esteem, being just as comfortable alone as we are in the company of others, finding peace and happiness in solitude and in togetherness. This applies to so many other aspects of our lives. I feel like so many of us are afraid to go out on our own because we're uncomfortable without companionship. We don't know how to attend events without a friend, we don't like to eat meals without companionship, we refuse to travel without a partner, and ultimately, we refuse to spend our lives without a significant other. We fear loneliness, and often, our level of loneliness defines our level of happiness. I am far from finding happiness at all these levels, but I do know that I can be happy being alone. I like to describe myself as an extroverted introvert, because I often find so much happiness in my own company.

Everyday Denim // Life Lately + A Giveaway

"If it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts."

Life lately.

I wanted to share a little bit more of a lifestyle post today, incorporating some shots I took for a project I'm working on with Gap for their new denim launch. This will be a part 1 feature of a two-part post, the second of which I'll be sharing Thursday. I'll be showing you how I wear denim in my everyday life because fortunately for the industry I work in, it really is our second skin.

As for my everyday life, I do my regular nine-to-five grind Monday through Friday. I make my daily commute into the city, and lately I've really enjoyed listening to a podcast called Dear Sugar to pass my time. For all the women in their early 20s to late 40s, I highly recommend this podcast. It really hits the nail on the head and speaks right to the heart. They cover practically every real life topic you could think of when it comes to family, friends, love, and relationships. I thought the quote in today's post really encompassed the heart of Dear Sugar because one of the resounding themes is love, and I just want to say it here for all of you that no love is the same. Love happens for everyone at different times and it comes in various shapes and sizes. It's not something to be compared or analyzed, and there's no simple recipe for making it work. There are as many kinds of love as there are hearts -- infinite.

P.S. If you're still here with me...keep reading! I've teamed up with a few bloggers to bring you an amazing giveaway!
