Mini Me

It's been awhile but...we're bringing back the mini. I can't remember the last time I wore a mini skirt {probably in middle school -- think circa 2004 Abercrombie & Fitch cut-off denim minis with polo pairing}, and I've actually had this particular one in my closet for ages with the tags still attached. Nowadays, we're remixing the mini as the perfect casual, chic piece to transition you from sweltering summer days into crisp fall eves. So if you've got yourself a pair somewhere in the depths of your closet, it's time to dust off the mini for the mini me comeback, 2.0.

My favorite times of the year are the periods of transition between seasons -- not only can you feel the shift in the air as the temperatures begin to change, but I also love the anticipation of the next season to come. Undoubtedly, my favorite transition is between summer to fall because as I've said countless times before...I love fall. These in between times are the perfect opportunity to play with your wardrobe, mixing and matching your favorite pieces from each season to create fun new outfits that really are only wearable for a short period of time each year. If you've followed along for awhile, you'll notice I almost never wear body-hugging pieces. It's just personal preference and it's really never been my thing. However, I fell in love with this super easy floral cotton bodycon by French Connection. It makes me feel a bit juvenile, but it also feels a little bit frou-frou, grandma-y, and the ultimate combination makes me giggle. It just felt like the perfect summer-to-fall transitional dress that I knew I had to wear with a pair of kick butt booties.

Sharing outfit two from my recent travels to St. Lucia! The girl friends and I spent most of our trip in bikinis and cover-ups, lazing on the sand, floating in the Caribbean, or adventuring through the rainforest, but we did decide to book a dinner by the water on our second to last night there and this was my outfit of choice. I'm sad to see summer go because I'm sad to put this off-the-shoulder top to bed. I'm also sad to say good-bye to the many adventures that were had and the countless memories that were made. Caribbean Blue

It's been a year of travels for me, and it would be an understatement to say that I've been swept away by the wanderlust spirit. From domestic travels to international travels, I've fallen in love with exploring the people and places and experiencing the joie de vivre of each new destination. I've come to find that I love being immersed in new cultures, which is why I so loved my most recent trip to St. Lucia. To most, St. Lucia is probably classified as a honeymoon destination and just another Caribbean island. But if you travel there to truly explore the island, you'll find that there is so much more than sand and sea {though I won't deceive you...their beaches are quite breathtaking}. I'll actually be sharing a more comprehensive post on my travels there, so I don't want to give too much away! In the meantime, here's the first outfit that I snapped while I was there. I'll be sharing a second outfit, followed by an overall travel post!

Feria : Live in Color

I had the pleasure of attending L'Oréal Feria Live in Color event a couple weeks back and it was a fantastic time! We wined, we dined {on h'or deurves}, we jammed out to some live music, we previewed a fashion collection designed with inspiration from L'Oréal Feria, and we appreciated a beautiful New York City sunset from the rooftop of Milk Studio's penthouse. I've shared some of my #LiveinColor and #LiveinFeria photos from the event in this post that I also shared on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook! I've also included a video below so you can peep the event and join in on the fun!! 

If we're being honest, I've never colored my hair previously so it was a lot of fun and super informative getting the chance to consult with one of the L'Oréal Feria hair consultants on the best shade for my hair and how to get the best at-home color! I chose the Power Violet shade for myself since I have naturally dark hair and it's pretty difficult to get any true color in my hair without first bleaching. With the Power Violet you get almost a jet black color with violet undertones that really shine in daylight. Definitely can't wait to try it out!

L'Oréal Feria is all about living bold and living colorfully, which is something that I whole-heartedly embrace in my everyday life. Though I may not necessarily live colorfully literally since my wardrobe consists predominately of neutral colors, I think a colorful life goes beyond surface level color. If you've been following along for awhile, you'll know that the core of my blog is to inspire my readers to find confidence and happiness through personal style. For me, fashion is personal and the way I dress largely impacts the way I feel. I always feel my best and my boldest when I'm wearing an outfit that makes me feel empowered, and that's what I hope to encourage in others. Self-confidence goes a long way in accomplishing great things in your life and pursuing your deepest passions and loftiest goals -- being bold and living a colorful, meaningful life go completely hand in hand in my books.

Fall Forward

The world of fashion is always moving forward. While we as people are still living in the present, basking in the summer heat, donning our light, flowy dresses or favorite pair of cutoff shorts, headed to the beach, the retail racks are already cycling out the old and bringing in the new. It's August, so that means in the world of fashion, it's time for fall. I don't make it a secret that fall is my favorite season, so naturally I'm about ready to snuggle up in some plaids and a cozy oatmeal sweater. I might be jumping the gun with this outfit, but oooh girl, I couldn't wait cause Aéropostale's just killin' it this fall with their new launch. Plus, these jeans are my new favorite and I simply couldn't help but share. I know, I know -- you're welcome ;)

Summer days make me think of two words: hazy and lazy. It's been sweltering here in NYC lately, and all I want to wear is whatever keeps me most comfortable and most cool. My typical summer uniform consists of an easy dress I can throw on with minimal accessories and run out the door, or a pair of shorts and a breezy top. I figured I'd share with you all a quick look that's comfortable and fitting for easy summer living, and hey, it's perfect for a trip to Chipotle. No seriously guys, this is what I wore to Chipotle last Sunday. Ain't no shame while I do my thang.

I can't believe how time has flown as we kick off August and begin the sad winding down of summer. It honestly feels like just yesterday that summer started and I looked ahead to a summer of endless possibilities and exciting adventures. It's officially been a full year since I've begun my full-time working career, and it's been a wild ride. The transition from college to career was definitely, well, a transition. Some of it was expected, while some of it was not, but being your own working person gives you a sense of liberation and independence that didn't exist before. I feel like I've traveled more in the last year than I did in my four years of college, heading out on one of my most anticipated travels this Friday for one last summer hurrah! I'll try to keep y'all posted, and of course, I'll be Instagramming my merry life away {so follow along!}.
