Laissez Faire

Hi there! Hope you're having a great week!

The origin of the word laissez faire comes from the French, meaning "to let people do as they choose" - not to be confused by the laissez faire term we use nowadays for economics. I'm a strong advocate of the idea "to each his own", and for the most part I really like to just do my own thing. Personal happiness is key, right? :)

Like I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to share an outfit that transitioned this blazer from day to night. I think a white blazer is a great staple piece for the closet, and I actually wore this look out to the city with friends for a nice dinner and late-night adventure seeking.

I love the silhouette of these shoes from Zara. They're a mix between a heeled sandal and a cutout bootie - both trends that I've really been enjoying.

One of my favorite things to do is layer statement necklaces. If you know me, either personally or just from following this blog, you'll know that I have a slight obsession with J.Crew jewels. Since their larger pieces tend to be quite pricey (but quite beautiful as well), I don't purchase those often. Instead, my trick is to buy the simpler pieces and layer them together to create the effect of one huge statement piece. I've fooled many people before with this trick, and in the process also received tons of compliments on my "necklace", which many people are pleasantly surprised to find out are actually two  separate necklaces.

I was kindly sent this black suede tote from MimicDesign for review. MimicDesign is an Etsy shop that primarily sells handmade leather goods and dainty jewelry. The quality of her pieces are amazing, and most of the bags and clutches can also be personalized with monogramming. Since the items are handmade, it does require a little bit more time. The shop owner is also extremely kind and helpful! I liked the idea of a black monogram on top of the black suede, which isn't something she usually makes. However, she made it happen and I love it! I really wanted a there-but-not-really-there monogram on my tote, and I think it turned out just perfectly. For more details you can visit her Etsy page here, or find her on Facebook!
