Anchors Aweigh!

Blazer (Ralph Lauren Black Label - last seen here) | Top (Loft - old) | Pants (Valerie Bertinelli via TJ Maxx - similar here) | Belt (J. Crew - old) | Shoes (Ellen Tracy) | Purse (Coach) | Watch (Michael Kors) | Bracelet (Pandora)

All aboard the Monday train (ship??)! Once again, I apologize for my disappearing act. I've been so busy with the semester winding down and now I am currently battling a really bad cold so please excuse my haggard appearance in the next couple posts (I finally convinced myself to pull myself together and take some blog pictures). For all you bloggers out there, does anyone else have trouble shooting white garments?? Whenever I wear something white, the details of the piece get lost in the exposure caused by the sun and even with heavy editing it's difficult to recover enough clarity without making the entire picture appear unnatural. If you have any tips, please let me know!!

Anyways, I'm in super love with these capri trousers. I'm a sucker for anything nautical and these pants seem very J. Crew to me, and you all know how I feel about J. Crew :) If you love them, I'd advise you to check out your local TJ Maxx because I believe it is one of the few places that carry Valerie Bertinelli items. Plus, they were very affordable - $16.99! I wanted to keep the look modern and fresh, so I went with an ivory sleeveless blouse to match my RL blazer. I hope you're all doing well and thank you for your patience :)

XOXO,

  1. I really like your new hair Erica! I honestly thought these pants were from J. Crew until I read that you got it at TJ Maxx. They seem very you - the length, the nautical vibe, very cute and love how you paired it with all white for the crisp fresh look. For white garments, usually I shoot in lower settings, to capture the details. You can always edit the pictures and lighten up the rest of the background, but still have your details show on your white shirt. So far, it's been good for me, but the white in your pictures looks fine as is. Enjoy the rest of your week and feel better! :)

  3. Thanks Christine! I saw them from afar on the rack and I immediately went towards them because they were screaming my name haha :) Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try that next time because from the far away, full-body shots you can't really see any of the blazer details and I didn't get a single good shot of my blouse inside. Hope you have a good week as well! :)

  5. What a classy outfit Erica! I love your white blazer and your anchor print pants so much! What size are you wearing for the blazer? I've never tried Ralph Lauren black label before.

  6. Thanks Jess! I just checked because I remember thinking it would be too large when I tried it on, and the blazer is a size 6, which is actually pretty big. I've tried on other items from RL's black label line and they don't tend to run small but for some reason this one fits me just right! For reference, I'm 5'5 and around 115 lbs, so I usually wear a size S or 0/2 in tops and blazers. If you have the chance, I definitely recommend checking out their black label line - it's great quality and cutting :)

  7. Thanks Erica! I remember going off on a tangent last year and I was
browsing their website but because I was unfamiliar with their sizing I
passed. You have a great eye for picking classic pieces. :)

  8. Thank you! :) And if anything, I think some of their things might even run a bit big, because I've tried on some of their tops (like a sheer silk blouse) and they were a bit too large even though it was supposedly my size.
