Monochrome Peplum

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend (and doing lots of shopping on your day off!) It got a bit chilly again here on the East Coast during the weekend so I decided to take my animal print peplum top out for its first spin since I wanted to keep it monochrome, but the black & white combo isn't something I automatically gravitate towards when it's warmer out. Peplum's been around for awhile now but this is the first peplum piece I've purchased because I've been extremely picky about choosing the peplum top, aka one that was different from the norm. As you all know, I'm big on patterns, so I loved that this was a very subtle black and white animal print. Moreover, it was extremely affordable while being a lot more luxe than its price tag. However, the only downside to peplum (in my opinion) is that at certain angles of being photographed, it almost made me look preggers (no bueno). But hey, if you're carrying a secret love child, you now know the perfect top to hide that lovely baby bump...lol.

On Friday, I hit up the J.Crew Factory store for its Memorial Day weekend sale, and I was pleased to find an additional 50% off the entire store. I picked up this necklace which I am literally head over heels in love with. Typically, J.Crew jewelry is way out of my price range, which breaks my heart since their designs are great quality and so gorgeous, so I was very happy to find this piece that didn't break the bank. You guys will definitely be seeing much more of this necklace in the upcoming months being that it is my latest "love" item from my collection. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you in the next one!

XOXO,
E ♥

  3. Very cute Erica! Black & White is on the trends list this season, I've been seeing it everywhere. I personally love peplum, I love the hourglass figure it fakes for me. Lol at your preggars comment, I think if you cinch your waist with a belt, it should prevent the bump from popping up in photos. I actually purchased the same necklace, except online so now it's backordered. I loved it when I saw it, but debated for a long time whether I should get white or blue, the blue turned up so nice in the ads, it was a tough choice, but I stuck with white nonetheless. Hope you're enjoying your weekend! The weather should turn up in the next couple of days :)

  5. Thanks Christine! It definitely is a good shape for people with a small waist and less of an hourglass figure (aka most Asian girls..haha) but I think it was mostly the material causing the pregger look. I will try out the belt method next time though :) I'm so happy you got the necklace! I am totally in love with it :) I saw the blue in store and it was really pretty, but I also chose white because I figured I'd get more wear out of it. Can't wait to see it on your blog!
