"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists...it is real...it is possible...it's yours."
{Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand}

I read my first Ayn Rand book going into my junior year of high school. I believe most of my peers shied away from the particular book I read {The Fountainhead} because let's be honest, most kids my age chose the easiest and, unquestionably, the shortest read. However, easy or short never really mattered much to me when it came to literature -- I just wanted something substantial to dig into and frankly, I was intrigued. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Of the many, many books I read for school throughout my pre-college years, The Fountainhead was definitely one of them.  Coincidentally, I believe all of the books I read during my junior year of high school were some of the best books I have ever read. Ranking up there as one of my all time favorites? The Grapes of Wrath. I know, I'm a nerd. But I can't help it, I'm simply captivated by words on a page.
