While hurricane Sandy is raging outside I am here furiously editing away to get this post up before the power and/or internet goes out! I got this top about two weeks ago from Forever 21, and I'm loving it. I'm super excited about this bow tie trend that's coming around because I can now finally find shirts with the bow tie built into it. A few months back I really wanted to start adding bow ties to my outfits, but I couldn't find any that were meant for that. But now it's no longer a problem! If you browse through the Forever 21 website, you'll find an assortment of shirts that have this look - unfortunately I could no longer find this specific top online.
This outfit reminds me of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl (one of my all time favorite shows, and yes I'm very sad that it's the last season!!). It's super preppy but also conservative, just like the Queen B herself. I've worn this shirt a couple of times now, and it's versatile both for dressing up or down - either way it's an extremely girly top. But in honor of my favorite character in GG, the pleated skirt was a must for me :) I kept the accessories very minimal, but wore big crystal studs to draw the attention up. And with a top like this, a necklace is a complete no no! I chose a gold bag because a black bag was too dark and actually dragged the outfit down, so if you don't have a gold bag, I would suggest either a nude or a pop of color! However, if you do go black, a small cross body bag with some gold chain detailing could work!
Hope you enjoy the outfit, and for all of those in the line of hurricane Sandy, stay inside and stay safe!!
