The rest of the world was in black and white, but we were in screaming color.
I am nothing short of being mad for plaid. There's a brief, roughly four month period when flannels -- more specifically plaid flannels, make their way out of the burrows of our closets and into the world. They have quite the short lifespan, so it's only fair to use and abuse. Am I right, or am I right?
I love to layer. I think it adds interest and it's also a challenge for myself to see what the most creative layering I can come up with to really make an outfit different. I used to think that collarless popovers were kind of a non-layer layer since there really wasn't a collar that would pop out from underneath your sweater. But clearly, I was foolish to think so. Using collarless popovers are actually now one of my favorite things to layer underneath a sweater. It's a little less stuffy and a little less "preppy" in comparison to the typical collared shirt, and it gives you way more options to choose from in your closet. This plaid number has been a popular choice for me these last couple months, and I'm happy to say I found it in the free-ninety-nine thrift store, aka the boxes of my mom's old vintage clothing.
Meanwhile, to add to all this holiday cheer, I'm hosting a $1,000 cash giveaway {yes, really} on Instagram with a group of shops and bloggers so head over to @refined_couture for your chance on winning the best gift ever. #yourewelcome
