Heart of the matter.

My mom has always told me that beauty fades -- it's what's on the inside that counts. But living in a vastly visual world of appearances and surface level judgments, it's easy to forget. The way we fall in love is usually first with the eyes, then with the mind, and last with the heart. It's how we make a lot of decisions: what we read, what we eat, what we wear, what we buy, who we befriend, who we love, etc. But in my twenty-odd years on this planet, I've come to find that if all of our judgments were made on this criteria of see, think, then feel, we often miss out on a lot of wonderful things, wonderful opportunities, and wonderful people. So maybe for the new year we reverse the order and live our lives first by the heart, next with the mind, and less with the eyes. Love is blind -- and so is faith.
