Emerald City

Sweater (TJ Maxx) | Top (Walter) | Skirt (Joe Fresh) | Belt (Forever 21) | Shoes (Enzo Angiolini) | Necklace (Dogeared)

Hello again! Today's outfit is all about Pantone's Color of the Year for 2013: emerald green! It's not really a color I go for very often because it's not a color I'd purchase in a top, but I thought it was a nice skirt color, especially for the wool-blend style skirts that are perfect for fall/winter. I used it as an accent and muted it with black and just some gold accents. I recently purchased this sweater, and was originally attracted to it because it reminds me of the structured tweed jackets that are very in right now and very much so inspired by Chanel. However, I loved that it was in sweater material and a bit oversized with some gold strand detailing in the sweater (hard to see on camera). I chose to pair it with a top with sequined panel detailing and a gold studded belt so the outfit didn't start looking old and grandma-y.

I will probably do another outfit sometime soon with the same sweater but dressed down with a pair of pants since I know for a lot of my readers, my obsession with skirts isn't very helpful for everyday wear to school. However, I do hope you enjoyed this look and as always, thanks for reading!!

Vote Vote Vote!! (Vince Camuto Facebook Contest)

Blazer (Madewell) | Top (Zoa) | Bottoms (BCBGMaxazria) | Belt (J. Crew) | Shoes (Marshall's)

Hello my lovely readers :) Today's post is going to be a little different! I've entered a contest on Vince Camuto's Facebook page for the opportunity to receive 1 of 2 internship positions at their company this summer. However, to even have a chance at an interview, I have to be in the top 20, and there are probably 600+ entries. The rules of the contest are pretty simple: take a photo of you in an outfit you'd wear to your dream interview, but to be creative! During the voting period (which has already begun!), you must get as many people to vote for your picture, and they can vote once everyday until March 1. The top 20 people with the most votes will receive a chance to interview with Vince Camuto, and two people will receive an internship offer for the summer. However, even if you are not chosen, those who make it into the top 20 will receive up to $500 in credit towards

If you are a follower of my blog, you'll know that I clearly love fashion and this is a wild opportunity. It'd be amazing if I could even make it into the top 20, which is where you all come in! I'd really appreciate it if you could all help me out by simply clicking on the link below and hitting VOTE once a day from now until March 1! Any and all help would be much appreciated, and I will love you forever :) So please help a girlie out and spread the word!! Thank you!

Oxblood and Neutrals

Sweater (United Colors of Benetton - also seen here) | Top (Forever 21 - old) | Bottoms (Uniqlo) | Scarf (Club Monaco) | Boots (Diane Von Furstenberg)

Hi everyone, and happy Friday!! Today's outfit is featuring one of my favorite color palettes - a mix of oxblood with neutrals and some mustard and dark olive green hues. I'm a big fan of warm colors because it suits my skin tone very well, and these particular colors have a certain richness that just feel like home to me - anyone else ever get these feelings?

This outfit features a lot of my favorite pieces, and like some people have comfort foods, I have comfort clothes. I love basic pieces that drape together beautifully and are as easy to wear as leggings and an oversized hoodie. Once again, this outfit was centered greatly on my shoes. I picked up these beauties maybe two or three weeks ago, and it was love. After going through the photos I didn't find a shot that did them justice, but from the side it has a 3.5-4 inch dark wooden heel with gold metal detailing where it connects to the boot, and a platform in the front to make it easier to walk in. It also has gold zipper detailing which I'm a sucker for in any kind of boot. I kept the pants and the sweater very neutral so all the attention would be drawn to the colors up top and my shoes.

Just a quick side note (and a mini rant about these pants. Ever notice how much I say that I fall in love with a piece or it's my absolute favorite? Yeah, this is one of those situations...), these pants are absolutely amazing and the price is a steal (only $19.90). They're actually a legging pant, but wear beautifully and are surprisingly slimming for a material that isn't all too heavy. I know I ramble on and on about my J. Crew pixie pants, but these are highly comparable, much more affordable, and is a bottom that I'd buy in multiples. I linked them above if you're looking to fall in love :)

Hope you all enjoyed this look, and thanks for reading!! Have a fantastical weekend!

Beauty Diaries Volume IV: Recent Drugstore Favorites

Maybelline Color Tattoo (Inked in Pink)

 Maybelline Color Tattoo (Barely Branded)

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer (Buff)

On my eyes: Barely Branded (base), Inglot #337 (contour), Dream Lumi, Integrate (eyeliner)

I haven't done a beauty diaries post in awhile, but I recently got suckered into buying some drugstore makeup products and I've loved them so much that I decided to review them for you all. All three are great everyday basics and easily make it into my special category of "daily routine" items that get an honored space in my bathroom instead of hidden away in my makeup storage space. So if you're interested, keep reading for more detailed reviews!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal 24Hr Eyeshadow in Inked in Pink: Part of the new addition to the Color Tattoo collection, this was a cult favorite for all beauty bloggers and gurus on YouTube - yes the reason I got sucked into buying it. It's very comparable to MAC's Paint Pots or MUFE Aqua Creams, but at a fraction of the price. It's a frosty pink with purplish, mauve undertones and sheers out when applied, looking a lot less pink on the eyes (but this is also because I have a warm skin tone). For people with a cooler skin tone, the pink will probably be more visible. Without a base, it creased on me after around 3 hours. With a base, it lasted around 6 hours before creasing.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal 24Hr Eyeshadow in Barely Branded: Also part of the same collection, I actually bought Inked in Pink first, loved the formula and went back for this one. If you asked me to pick one between the two, I'd choose this one because I prefer the champagne-nude as an everyday base over the pink. The swatch comes out as a very pearlescent buttercream color, but as you can see in the last picture above it's a lot more of a nude with a frosty, metallic finish when applied to the eyes. Like Inked in Pink, it does lose a lot of its pigmentation when blended out, but that's why it makes for a great base. The wearing power was the same as Inked in Pink, and overall I love it for adding dimension to my eyes. It has the perfect amount of shimmer while being the perfect shade to brighten up the inner half of your eyes without being too unnaturally white or too close to skin color where it becomes ineffective.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Buff: This product has been out for awhile, and I've been wanting to try it for so long but after testing out a few other highlighting concealers I was a bit turned off since none of them had left a good lasting impression on me and I assumed this one would be the same, despite the many raving reviews I'd heard. However, it proved me completely wrong because it is amazing. I honestly have terrible eye bags (darkness not as much), so concealer is my best friend and a must for me. The formula on this is a gel (unlike other products of its type) so it doesn't settle into fine lines and it also isn't drying or cakey. It has medium coverage, but it is also build-able. It is a highlighting concealer, so it works great for under the eyes and also on the bridge of your nose, your cheeks, cupid's bow, etc. This concealer is a holy grail product in my opinion and will definitely be a repurchase. For roughly $7, it is honestly worth the try!!

Hope you all found this helpful, and thanks for reading!!

Floral Tights

Jacket (Dallin Chase) | Cardigan (J. Crew - similar here on sale!) | Top (American Eagle) | Shorts (Thrifted) | Tights (Betsey Johnson) | Belt (Forever 21) | Shoes (BX by Bronx) | Necklace (Dogeared)

Happy Monday!! The weather is back to its typical frigidity again, but this past weekend we had an unusually warm stint so I pulled together a fun look with these awesome tights I've been wanting to wear out. However, when I took these photos it was actually pretty cold and this outfit proved to be surprisingly warm - though I couldn't take off my coat since my cardigan wasn't nearly warm enough by itself. So, if you're curious to see what the cardigan looks like in its entirety, check out this post.

Just cause you're pretty in pink doesn't mean you can't throw on some tougher pieces and kick some serious butt in elfish black ankle boots. It's like Santa's little helpers went to the South Pole, decided black was the new Christmas red, and traded in his sled for a nice Harley Davidson. I hope my ramblings of why my shoes remind me of elves tinkling around at least makes you giggle :) Love you lots and see you all in my next post!

Zippered Details

Sweater (Vince) | Top (Ralph Lauren) | Bottoms (J. Crew) | Boots (Michael Kors) | Necklace (Francesca's)

Happy Valentine's Day my pretties!! Though this outfit is very monochromatic and in no way Valentine's Day themed, I still wanted to make sure I got a post up for today because Valentine's Day is all about love, and I love all my readers :)

During winter time I just love being comfy, and I thought this sweater was the epitome of cozy, not to mention warm! It was a pretty cold day, so I paired it with a turtleneck but added a drop necklace as a statement to keep it youthful and stylish since classic turtlenecks have been given an "old" stereotype. However, if you look in stores like J. Crew and Club Monaco, they're making a comeback! So don't worry, all those old turtlenecks you kept stashed away in the deep corners of your closet? It's safe to let them see time of day again.

Finally, I wore my super thick pixie pants (no I don't wear these everyday of my life - it just happens that every time I choose an outfit to blog about, my pixie pants are somehow incorporated because they're just that great. Don't judge.) with black leather boots that have some cool zipper detailing. Unfortunately, I've had these for awhile so I really have no idea where to find a similar pair or these exact ones since I haven't seen anything like them in case any of you are wondering. Hope you all like this outfit, and all the love to you beautiful ladies (and handsome gentlemen) this Valentine's Day!! Thanks for reading!!

XOXOXO (extra hugs and kisses today),

Valentine's Day Nails ♥

Orly (Moonlit Madness) | Ulta (Tink-Her-Bell) | Essie (Lion Around) | Sally Hansen (Whirlwind White; White Nail Art Pen) | Revlon (Quick Dry Base Coat) | Seche Vite ( Dry Fast Top Coat) | Osaka (Dotting Tool)

Hi loves! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and I love doing cute nail designs that match the upcoming holiday. If you remember awhile ago I promised a red velvet cupcake nail art but ended up breaking a nail the following day and haven't painted my nails since. So I decided instead to turn that into a nail art that would be perfect for V-Day! If you like it, keep reading for a step-by-step how to!

1) Use any base coat of your liking!
2) Paint on one coat of Orly's "Moonlit Madness" (I usually do two coats, but the formula on this particular polish is very opaque and non-streaky so one is good enough! Also, the thinner the nail polish, the less chipping you'll experience later on)
3) Using your dotting tool and Essie's "Lion Around", choose a finger and paint little polka dots!
4) Using Ulta's "Tink-Her-Bell", choose a finger and make it sparkle :) This one required a couple coats to get a more opaque pink-glitter finish.
5) Now for the tricky part...using the Sally Hansen White Nail Art Pen, draw an outline for the icing of your cupcake. The easiest way to do this is to pretend like you're drawing elementary school clouds :)
6) Using a white polish, I chose Sally Hansen "Whirlwind White", fill in the icing part of the cupcake as best as you can. Try to stay in the lines and keep the layer even!
7) Using Essie's "Lion Around" again with your dotting tool, make three stripes on the rest of your nail and finish it off with a cherry on top!
8) After your nails are thoroughly dry (I like watching TV while I wait), use your favorite top coat (mine will forever be Seche Vite) and seal in your design!

Aside from the cupcake, the rest of the design is pretty easy. If you don't have some of these colors/tools, that is just fine! Any red would work as a base color for this look, and a silver glitter would be just as cute! You can also replace the dotting tool with a tooth pick, which is a little harder to work with but still manageable. The only two things that I would definitely recommend getting is a white polish and the Seche Vite top coat because you'll find that getting your white layer to look completely even is pretty difficult, and the Seche Vite top coat has some magical way of making it look like a seamless paint job and thus making you look like a pro :) Hope you like this look, and I hope everyone has a very happy Valentine's Day! Virtual chocolates for you all ♥

Cozied Up

Cardigan (United Colors of Benetton) | Top (Joe Fresh) | Pants (J. Crew) | Belt (Express) | Scarf (Club Monaco - still available in-store) | Shoes (Alice + Olivia) | Earrings (Kate Spade)

It's the start of another week, and for me Mondays are always like Fridays - you're tired so you just want to be comfortable but you don't want to sacrifice your fashion morals for the sake of comfort. Therefore, I bring you one of my favorite go-to outfits that's comfy yet still looks put together.

In my opinion, the perfect comfy outfit is a combination of all the classic, basic pieces that are staple to a girl's closet...aka black pants that really feel like leggings (mine are the J. Crew pixie pants..surprise surprise), the perfect silk button down, and a slouchy cardigan in a neutral/earthy color. To add a little more personality I went with one of my all-time favorite scarves (I love the little rhinestone details!!), an animal print belt, and leopard print loafers. You could go with a statement necklace, but honestly a huge clunky piece of metal hanging around my neck isn't my definition of comfort. Let me know in the comments below what your go-to stylish, but comfy outfit is!! Thanks for reading :)
