Negative Space

"What do we call visible light? We call it color. But the electromagnetic spectrum runs to zero in one direction and infinity in the other, so really, mathematically, all of light is invisible."
{Anthony Doerr, All the Light We Cannot See}

My life has been seriously devoid of color for the last few months ever since I started working in New York City. I've never been the kind of girl who favored black jeans over blue jeans or preferred to stick to predominately monochromatic color options when it comes to clothes, but all of that has now changed. I often joke now that my favorite color is black...like my soul...kidding!! But still dark and twisty inside {please tell me if you get the reference!}

I'm super excited to be kicking off my collaboration with Foxiedox today, featuring their new Spring '15 collection. Though their overall brand style is more edgy than I think I'm cool enough to be, that doesn't mean a sista can't mix a piece to match her own style -- when there is a will there is a way! I actually really love this top with the sheer paneling on the neckline, and I decided it'd be an interesting pairing to play with the idea of negative space with both my top and my bottom. I like the synonymy of the curved mesh paneling in the neckline of the top and the bottom of the skirt. It creates a cohesion that makes me giddy {yup, I'm a total weirdo}.

I hope all my East Coast friends stay warm and safe in the next couple of days when Big Bertha hits! I, for one, am biding adieu to these bare leg days.
