Floral & Distressed (Part 1)

Tommy Hilfiger Blazer - similar | American Eagle Top - similar  | Rich & Skinny Jeans - similar style here and here | J.Crew Belt - similar | Toms Sneakers | Michael Kors Watch | Stella&Dot Bracelet | Forever 21 and Dogeared Necklaces

Hey everyone! Today's outfit is going to be a part 1 to a two part feature of these pants. I purchased these pants about a month ago when I began searching for a boyfriend style jean. I didn't want an actual boyfriend jean because for the most part, I feel like they make my legs look stubby. These Rich & Skinny jeans were perfect because they were a relaxed style with a more tapered and skinny cut to still be figure flattering. Not to mention, they are also ridiculously comfortable that I want to live in them everyday (hence the part 2....jk, but not really). What I love about a relaxed jean is its ability to be dressed up or down, though today's look is more of a happy medium. Whenever I put on these jeans, I always feel the need to appear more effortlessly put together while still feeling very comfortable, and these jeans don't make it very difficult. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned Friday for part 2!!

XOXO,
E ♥

Black & White Geometry

Nanette Lepore Top - similar | Forever 21 Joggers | J.Crew Ankle Cuff Pumps | Forever 21 Belt and Bracelets | Michael Kors Watch

Introducing: the socially acceptable pajama pant! When I first purchased these, both my best friend and my sister joked on separate occasions that once this look went out of style, I could easily wear these as pajama pants - which is completely true and I am not ashamed to admit I will probably do. I became slightly obsessed with finding a black and white printed version of these after my mom dug her floral pair out of the depths of her closet (featured here). I saw this pair online and rushed to a Forever 21 to try them on because they were exactly what I had in mind. Other than a white top, I can't see these pants being paired with any other color. I kept the palette very simple with minimal gold accents and my new favorite pumps (love love love). In fact, I saw the Manolo Blahnik counter part to my pumps at Neiman Marcus last week, and I can't even...!!
Anyways, hope that last eye candy drool was a good afternoon pick me up for your Monday morning blues! I'll see you all on Wednesday, and thanks for reading!!

XOXO,
E ♥

Mint Refresher

Calvin Klein Top (old) | J.Crew 5" Chino Shorts | Ann Taylor Belt | J.Crew Flats | Forever 21 Necklace (old) | Michael Kors Watch | Stella&Dot Bracelet | Tiffany&Co. Ring

Hey everyone! Back as promised with today's casual look. We were hit by a sweltering heat wave last week, and if you had told me we were in Arizona or Texas, I would've believed you. I've really been trying to get as much wear out of these neon flats you all saw for the first time in my Neon Pop post. I love how bold and bright they are, adding an extra kick to any outfit. Plus, they're probably one of the most comfortable pair of flats I own. I've mentioned before that I love a good mint and pink combo, so this was a no-brainer pairing for me.
As for a brief review of these J.Crew chino shorts, if any of you are avid J.Crew shoppers, you'll know the chino shorts come in many different inseams. I didn't bother with the 3" because I'm not a huge fan of super short shorts. I went directly for the 4" but I actually didn't like the way the cut looked, so I was going to just forgo owning a pair of their chino shorts altogether. However, I saw these 5" ones on sale for a great price, so I figured it didn't hurt to try them on. I surprisingly liked the cut of these a lot more, but still preferred the length of a 4" inseam, so I cuffed them up to solve the problem. If you're looking for a good pair of chino shorts, I definitely recommend at least trying these out since they come in such a large assortment of colors and inseams.
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you all on Monday!!

Waterfall Roses

Madewell Dress | Ann Taylor Belt | J.Crew Pumps | Michael Kors Watch

Happy Monday! I've started to notice that I've gotten in the routine of making sure to have something up on the blog every Monday and Wednesday, and my hope is to eventually also add Friday to the list. I also like to mix it up on my blog with outfits that range from very casual to relatively dressy because that is the reality of my daily wardrobe and the wardrobe of any other person who leads a normal civilian life. Let's be real...nobody actually wears heels every day of their life no matter how good they make your calves and/or behind look.
Today's look leans on the relatively dressy side, and if you stick around for Wednesday's look you'll find that it will be on the opposing end of the spectrum. This outfit for me is full of "loves" - a beautiful silk day dress in a print that reminds me of the 80s, and these ankle cuff pumps from J.Crew that were indeed love at first sight. The phrase that comes to me when I look at this pairing is floral femme, and I can't get enough. What are your latest loves?? Thanks for reading!

Neon Pop

J.Crew Top (sold out online - check in stores!) | Free People Jeans - similar | J.Crew Flats | Coach Cross-Body Bag | J.Crew Factory Necklace - in navy | Michael Kors Watch | Andrea Jovine Sunnies

Hey everyone! Hope your week's been pleasant thus far. Today's post is from my recent trip to LA (if you follow me on Instagram, @refined_couture you would've seen some pictures I posted!). Unfortunately, this time around I only had time to photograph this outfit since my trip was short and jam packed with plans. I've found that whenever I pack for LA, I lean towards a lot of whites and lightweight tops that are loose and flow-y and just easy to wear. I'm not sure if it's the lifestyle difference, the weather, or both that change my mental fashion gear when I'm going to be in SoCal. Do any of you ever find yourself doing this?? Nonetheless, I do love this outfit because it's fun and girly, and I got to add my bright pink Cece flats for a pop of color. I originally thought I wasn't going to like this top because it seems a little boyish and I've never really gravitated towards a powder blue, but I actually love the fit and the linen makes it very light and perfect for the heat. As always, thanks for reading!!

Turquoise & Tweed

J.Crew Sweater | J.Crew Skirt | J.Crew Factory Necklace - in navy | Ellen Tracy Pumps | Michael Kors Watch | Stella & Dot Bracelet

Hi everyone! Happy Monday, and I hope you all had a great weekend :) I put together this outfit a couple weeks ago for church, and just hadn't had the chance to edit and post onto my page. For you church-goers or just those who have a business casual dress code every day and are tired of your typical slacks and subdued pencil skirts, I think this is a great alternative. It's still a rather conservative look, but it's also very feminine at the same time. Plus, the glimmer tweed with the pop of color trim really adds a fun touch to an otherwise simple silhouette skirt.
Even though it's still scorching hot out, I'm always thinking about pieces that can easily transition into the next season, which is what I had in mind when I purchased this turquoise Tippi sweater. It's an all-around flattering cut for just about anyone, plus it's made of a light weight merino that actually isn't suffocatingly hot (I wore this on a day when it was near 90 degrees out!) and will also make for a great layering piece come fall. I'm tempted to go out and buy this in more colors...! I added my current favorite statement necklace because the necklace seemed a bit bare. Now whenever I blog about this necklace, I think of Christine from Petite Hues, because she has the same one! You can check out her blog to see how she styles her's :) Let me know in the comments below how you make business casual more fun and feminine! Thanks for reading, and join me on Wednesday for a new post :)

Bordeaux Maxi

Joe Fresh Top - similar | Skirt from TJ Maxx - similar | Franco Sarto Sandals | Ann Taylor Belt - similar | Michael Kors Watch

Hey everyone! So sorry for disappearing for such a long time - life got pretty busy and then I was away for a bit during the holiday and didn't have access to a computer (namely because I didn't bring it along). Today's look has easily become one of my favorite outfits to just throw on when it's too hot to wear pants but I'm too lazy to wear a shorter dress for personal comfort throughout the day. I love a good pleated maxi because it's a very versatile piece to dress up or down depending on your mood, and it also flows beautifully as you move. I chose a very casual top but added a skinny printed belt in a calf hair cheetah print (one of my favorite belts!) to keep it all a little bit more interesting. I hope you all enjoyed this look, and thanks so much for reading!!

E ♥
