Wonderland

"And in that moment, I swear we were infinite."
{Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower}

Yesterday's outfit, today's blog post! I've often received the question, "Wait, but you're not wearing that today?" when people see me in real life versus what I've just posted on my blog. For the most part, my real life wardrobe never aligns with my blog wardrobe -- typically I wear an outfit first in person and then blog the photos later; I rarely do it in reverse because the one time I made that mistake someone said, "Hey, you wore that on your blog this week!" and mentally, I cringed.

This is a special week for me because it'll be my first time ever attending NYFW on my own merit!! I remember last season living vicariously {and jealously} through my Instagram feed, wishing to take part in the magical whirlwind of a wonderland that is NYFW. I'll recap my escapades next week, but today I wanted to share the outfit I wore to the luncheon that Foxiedox hosted yesterday to kick off fashion week! Like any other girl, I love to dress up and there's really no better time than fashion week to wear something you might otherwise not wear on a regular basis. To work, I usually keep my outfits pretty basic because 1) It's easy, 2) It's comfortable, 3) It's easy, and 4) It's easy {just kidding, it just fits the aesthetic of my workplace more and it really does require much less effort than actually getting fully dressed up...I'm starting to think people might think that the style persona I channel via my blog and my real life style persona are two completely different people. #lazinessprevails}. But when it really comes down to it, my favorite kinds of pairings are feminine and luxe with maybe, possibly the slightest hint of cool {depending on how you define cool...I like to think I'm at least just a tiny bit cool, okay}.

This has got to be one of my favorite, favorite sweaters from my wardrobe and possibly the universe because it's got a big fat stinkin' bow that cinches at the waist and creates a beautiful structured silhouette. Lately, I've also been wearing this chiffon tank layered underneath practically every sweater I own because I die for the pleats and volume that it adds, completely transforming any sweater from your closet. I highly suggest finding a chiffon tank with lots of body if you dig this sort of look...it'll be one investment you'll love yourself for forever. Mixing these pieces with a pair of snake embossed leather pants adds the {possible} slight hint of cool I was talking about before because let's be real...leather pants are pretty rad. Tune in next week for more peeps at what I wore to NYFW + my fashion week recap.

Besos!
